OZeCulture Conference 2001

The OZeCulture Conference 2001 in Melbourne on 13 and 14 June 2001 was very well received with nearly 300 attendees from across Australia and overseas gathering to see and hear an extremely wide range of presentations.

The associated new media exhibition, produced by Cinemedia especially for the conference, showed examples of many different kinds of new media work including film/computer animations, which were interspersed through the conference, CD-ROMS, net art and virtual reality installations.

Papers and presentations from the conference have been posted to this website. The conference featured a large number of presenters (43 in total) giving brief presentations rather than lengthy papers, a format suited to an inaugural conference, which allowed broad coverage of the wide range of issues related to the area. Because of this structure and the nature of the subject area itself the conference has produced a wide range of materials - short papers, Powerpoint presentations, links to speakers’ websites, many of which were presented live in the conference, coupled with bios and summaries. We have endeavoured to publish whatever we can to the conference website and the conference proceedings also incorporate this material. The range of material should give a good snapshot of what was covered throughout the conference.
