Digital media and film - Call for entries

Flickerfest - National and International

Entries by 12 September 2008 (Extended), international entries by Friday 19 September 2008 (Extended), event 9-18 January 2009

Flickerfest, Australia’s premiere international and national short film competition is calling for entries. The Flickerfest international competition is open to any production available for screening on 35mm. Betacam is also acceptable for the Australian and documentary competitions. All films must be under 30 minutes and must have been completed within 2 years of the closing date. Films must be in English or have English subtitles. Due to the competitive nature of the Festival, Sydney premieres and films that have not been broadcast in Australia are favoured.

Short + Sweet - National

Entries by 13 October and 7 November 2008, event 13 January - 28 February 2009

Each year Short + Sweet produces hundreds of the best ten minute plays from across the globe, produced by some of the most talented local actors and directors. Entries are now open for Short + Sweet Sydney 2009.

Adelaide Film Festival 2009

The Adelaide Film Festival 2009 is calling for submissions of feature films, documentaries and shorts made in Australia and internationally, completed after February 2007. All genres of contemporary screen culture are welcomed including drama, documentary, experimental, new media, and animation.

INSITE Competition for unproduced screenplays

Entries by 31 October 2008 (Extended)

The Australian Writers' Guild (AWG) and the Adelaide Film Festival (AFF) are calling for entries to the fourth biennial INSITE Competition for unproduced feature screenplays. The winning screenplay will receive a rehearsed public reading during the National Screenwriters' Conference, to be held in conjunction with the 2009 Adelaide Film Festival.

8th Annual Bondi Short Film Festival - Sydney

Entries are now open for the 2008 Bondi Short Film Festival. The Bondi Short Film Festival is focused on seeking out the highest quality short films in Australia. The festival has some of the most respected industry representatives attending each year providing valuable feedback to the film makers.

Ongoing entries

The National Film and Sound Archive (NFSA) is seeking applications from established researchers and audiovisual practitioners with a record of significant achievement for the CSAR Research Fellowships. Senior academics, scholars, writers, filmmakers, artists and archival professionals from Australia and overseas are encouraged to apply. The fellowships involve a residency at the NFSA in Canberra, with accommodation supplied. Fellowship applications are welcome throughout the year.
