Connecting you with Australian culture online
If you have only a rudimentary knowledge of the Internet, then this Guide is where you should start.
Even if you think you know a bit about the Internet, there's probably something in this Guide you'll find useful.
This Guide explains why your cultural organisation should be on the Internet.
The number of Australians using the Internet is growing rapidly. As more people get connected, they will expect you to be connected as well.
They will want to know when you are open, what hotels and transport are nearby, what you charge, what cultural events you offer, and what you sell. They will expect to have a rich variety of interactions with you over the Internet.
These interactions will benefit you also. Soon an Internet connection will be seen as being as essential as a telephone connection is today - we'd argue it already is!
It's essential not only for communication, but soon will be an essential tool for doing business or electronic commerce, banking, making sales, selling tickets, as a marketing and promotional tool, and as a way of generating new business and expanding audiences for your products.
If you are a cultural worker or are involved in cultural activities, you should be on the Internet. Your audience will increasingly expect to find out about you on the Internet.
If you don't get your business connected you run the risk of losing some of your existing audience as well as missing out on the potential to create new audiences.
