Now for a brief review of what you have learnt in this Guide.
You learnt about the hardware, software and expertise needed to establish and maintain your own server. Generally, unless you have a special interest in this, or you are a large organisation, you are better off having your site hosted by an ISP.
You can create your website in-house, although you do need some specialist software for this. A server is not needed for website development.
You will want to purchase a unique domain name and may consider purchasing the same domain name in domains other than Australia.
Ask yourself this...
- Is my desired name and domain name available and free of other trademarks?
- Do I have the resources to run my own Web server?
- Do I need multimedia on my website?
- What graphics do I need on my website?
- How much text do I need on my website?
- Is there an ISP who meets the needs for my website?
