Review of Guide 9 (screen 8 of 8)

You learnt how to promote your site in this Guide. You learnt about metadata, and its importance in describing your site.

You learnt that it is important to promote your electronic addresses in any medium where you have a presence.

You learnt that the Internet is a business medium. It is increasingly being used to sell goods and services, most of which are paid for with credit cards.

You also learnt that while a standard Web screen cannot offer security, there are ways of providing for secure transactions over the Internet. Generally, expert help is needed to create a secure site.

If you have goods and services to sell you should consider the Internet as a potential medium for sales, as the potential market is measured in millions of individuals.

Ask yourself this...

  • Where will I advertise my website?
  • How will I change my business correspondence to reflect my Internet presence?
  • What metadata terms best describe my site?
  • What terms are used to describe related sites?
  • How will I get my site catalogued by search engines?
  • How will I maintain my website?
  • How will I resource this maintenance?
  • How will I extend my website?
  • Would audio and video enhance my website?
  • What services can I provide from my website?
  • What can I sell from my website?
  • How would people pay for things they purchase from my website?
  • How do I prevent hackers from causing problems at my website?
