Whitsunday Islands is a group of islands situated in the Great Barrier Reef near Queensland, Australia. These islands are some of the most popular tourist resorts in Australia, and once you go there you will see why this is so. There are seven islands in total. They are Whitsunday Island, Brampton Island, Hamilton Island, Lindeman Island, South Molle Island, Hayman Island and Daydream Island. Each Island offers a unique experience for the visitor. Whitsunday Island is generally only used for camping. This island can boast of a beach that is 7km long and it is white and pristine. Tourists visit this island to see the complex mangrove forests that has been evolving there for thousands of years.
Brampton Island has a resort that can host around 300 people at a time. The activities on this island includes, snorkeling, bushwalking and it has a wild life sanctuary. Seaplane trips from this island are another fun activity. If you are into exploring the great outdoors then this is the place to go to. Hamilton Island is the most popular island of this group. It has the largest resort of any of the islands. Activities here include, scuba diving/snorkeling, sailing etc. Lindeman Island is the most secluded of the seven. This place is popular with people who like to observe native flora and fauna. There is also a Club Med resort on this island.
Lately South Molle Island is becoming more and more popular with tourists. The reason for this is because, there is a 18 hole golf course on the island. Like the rest of the Whitsunday Islands, this place also offers a host of water sport related activities. One of the attractions of this place is the great view it offers of the Whitsunday passage. Hayman Island is popular with honeymoon couples. This island offers a lot in the way of sightseeing, flight tours, whale watching and diving. Daydream Island as the name suggests is the perfect place to go and just lay back and dream. This island also has all of the water sports and one of the largest hotels, to give you a fun filled holiday.
